People of 2morrow – Brooklyn
Greenpoint is one of those unique neighborhoods in Brooklyn where the Polish-American culture + influence still runs deep on the East River waterfront. This ‘hood is full of unique boutiques, an impressive assortment of record shops, great cocktails + food, and perhaps THE best-ever city skyline views from the Brooklyn side. It’s got a neighborhoodliness that makes you slowwwww down, and pay attention.
One thing we New Yorkers have in common is a lack of closet space and so – our ability to offload gently-worn-wears for a bit of cash is our God-given right. People of 2morrow is more than just a consignment store. As they put it, they procure “local + worldly designers, spanning across previous decades + far away places.”
- This shop is so beautifully put together. The window displays are constantly in-flux and feature hand-made macrame, succulents, woven things, hand-dyed fabrics—it draws you in. With such a huge space, it can be hard to keep it ‘intimate’ but the space has this warmth, from the psychedelic African music to the Incausa Resin incense + Palo Santo smells.
- People of 2morrow’s Instagram game is STRONG. Inspiring, creative, but also – they’re posting images featuring one-of-a-kind looks on a daily basis with sizes, details + pricing along with photo parallels to current trends. A sort of, “here’s something like this expensive popular thing.” Simple, smart, and well played guys. I’m onto your game (and I like it).
- Upcycling is the way forward and yes they buy gently-loved pieces – but it’s carefully hand-selected—each has a story to tell and they stand out from your typical vintage fare. Also featured are local designers using rich fabrics, stand-out design and techniques such as hand-dyed pieces by Upstate and kimonos by Dee Dee’s Street Boutique.
